BRIDES heading to EIFF and wins Fritz Gerlich Prize
Suhayla El-Bushra’s BRIDES, directed by Nadia Fall, will be heading to the Edinburgh International Film Festival this August before its September 26th UK release!
Brides has also just been awarded the annual Fritz Gerlich prize at the 42nd Munich Film Festival.
The prize, in memory of a journalist murdered by the Nazis, is awarded to films that advocate for greater humanity and against dictatorship, intolerance, and persecution.
As described by the jury, Brides examines how young people must be "cared for with care and attention, warned against, and protected from dangerous manipulation," and shows "how a series of minor catastrophes ultimately escalate into a major catastrophe." The jury for the prize continued, "The film impresses with its topicality”.
