JILLIAN MANNION

Jillian Mannion is a Scottish award-winning film and television screenwriter with over 35 broadcast credits. She was Lead Writer on Netflix’s critically acclaimed Blood, Sex & Royalty and her first feature was nominated for Best Dramatic Screenplay at the LEO Awards. She was a main writer on BBC Scotland’s River City for 8 years and won the WGGB Best Long Running Series writer for one of her episodes in 2022. The same episode led to the show being nominated for a BAFTA Scotland Audience Award. 

Her other television writing credits include BBC’s Casualty, Death in Paradise and the Aberdeen based crime drama Granite Harbour. Jillian can write across various styles and genres and has particular strengths in writing Scottish stories, script structure, story continuity and script analysis and collaborates very well with other writers.

In 2021 Jillian was selected to be a mentee on Women in Film and Television 4 Nations Mentoring Scheme where she won several awards. As well as being a writer, she is also a script consultant and has worked on projects for the BFI and Screen Scotland. Jillian has also written, directed and produced two of her own short films, which have been selected for festivals. She regularly judges screenwriting competitions and was a Lecturer in Screenwriting at St Andrews University. She graduated with a Diploma in Writing for Film & Television from Vancouver Film School and has a Degree in English Literature.
